Serge de Vries (1968) paints ordinary things in a simple manner that personally resonates with him. Whether it's a toy robot or a simple thumbtack, Serge paints them without frills, using wet-on-wet oil paint technique. By capturing the play of light, these everyday objects transform into special items that compel viewers to look at them differently. With quick, short strokes, Serge creates images, and he is content when he successfully captures the light, making viewers want to 'feel' the painting. Serge graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht in 1995 and resides and works in Apeldoorn.
